The importance of a breakfast:

Always have breakfast! Without breakfast your body is missing out of nutrients that are essential to give you a good start in the morning. Studies have even shown that children that skip breakfast do not perform at school as well as children who did have breakfast.
As you wake up, take a glass of water to start with. Like this your internal body wakes up as well and makes the shock of coffee not too big. The best is to start the day with some fruits. They contain precisely the sugars and vitamins your brain needs. It is not for nothing that a glass of fresh orange juice feels so refreshing. Have a lunch about 3 hours later on. In fact, your digestive track takes about three hours after waking up to be able to work at full strength.
Anyway, it is always better to eat something than to skip your breakfast!
